Social Security Office Closure in Louisiana
I’ve received a number of questions recently about the COVID-19 related Social Security Office Closure in Louisiana, what to do about new claims, and how to handle disability denials currently. Here’s the latest.
All local Social Security offices have been closed for in-person service to the public since Tuesday, March 17, 2020. As of May 26th, there has been no further official guidance on when the local Social Security Office will re-open. If you need to file a new claim for Social Security Disability benefits in the meantime, however, you may click here to begin the filing process on the Social Security Administration’s website.
If you have been denied disability by the Social Security Office since March 17, 2020, and need to appeal the decision further, please contact us. We can help you file a request for reconsideration or an appeal with the appropriate office, despite the Social Security Office Closure.
